ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Colorado Rapids have reached the U.S. Open Cup Semifinals for the first time this century, last making it this far in 1999 when they finished runners-up. The Rapids faced lower-division opposition in their previous two semi-finals, losing to the Rochester Raging Rhinos in 1996 before beating Charleston Battery in 1999.
  • St. Louis CITY SC has reached the Semifinals for the first time in just the club’s third entry in the competition. One of the three rounds St. Louis advanced in during this year’s competition was a fourth-round win at Chicago, its only ever away victory in the U.S. Open Cup.
  • Colorado and St. Louis have met on eight prior occasions, exclusively in MLS play. The all-time series is knotted up at 3W-3L-2D, though St. Louis has picked up a pair of 1-0 victories—home and away—against Colorado this season.
