Despite suffering from an injury earlier in the season, Lamine Yamal has once again emerged as a force to be reckoned with.

In La Liga alone, the forward has racked up nine goals and nine assists in 18 matches, making him one of the most productive players for the club.

However, what has been more impressive about Yamal this season is his dribbling prowess, with the forward ranking at the very top of leaderboards.

The dribbling king of La Liga

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, data from the first 22 matchdays reveal that Yamal is operating in a league of his own.

The Barça number 10 has attempted a staggering 201 dribbles, completing 98 of them. To put his dominance into perspective, he has completed nearly 40 more dribbles than his closest rival, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe (60/125).

Yamal has also nearly doubled the output of Vinicius Jr. (53/155), who is standing third in the leaderboards, with Victor Munoz, a Real Madrid target, being fourth.

What makes Yamal’s volume even more impressive is his efficiency. Often, high-volume dribblers suffer from low success rates, but Yamal currently boasts the highest effectiveness in the league at 48.8%.

While Mbappe follows closely with a 48% success rate, the gap to other elite wingers is noticeable.

Nico Williams sits at 37.8%, while Vinicius Jr. trails significantly with a mere 34.2% success rate. Munoz, meanwhile, has a success rate of 35.8%.

Yamal will have an opportunity to further extend his tally as Barcelona take on Mallorca this weekend, in what could prove to be a must-win game for the Blaugrana, with Real Madrid breathing down their necks.
