We have more transfer news and latest updates for all your MLS needs.
Here is what you need to know this Wednesday.
LAFC captain Carlos Vela is keen to build his chemistry with new team-mate Gareth Bale as the club eyes more success in MLS.
“When you have a player at that level happy, imagine how good he can be,” said Vela. “We are still forming that chemistry to play together because he’s coming from holiday so he’s getting the rhythm, but he showed already how good he can be.
“I know how Gareth likes to play … We’re talking a lot about how we can be productive for the team and we will show more for sure.
“We’re preparing him for playoffs to be at a dominant level and of course with him, with Giorgio [Chiellini], with all the team we have, the only goal we have is the championship,” he added. “If we don’t make it, it will be something bad for us.”
Former Chelsea defender Matt Miazga is adamant he won’t let his unique career path hinder his career. Instead, it’s motivation.
The 27-year-old only played two matches for the Blues and went on five different loan spells in five years in five countries before landing back in MLS with FC Cincinnati.
“It’s been quite a ride and I’m very thankful for it … When I left [New York] Red Bulls I was, what, 20 years of age?” he said.
“There was a lot of interest for me, and when Chelsea comes calling, when [José] Mourinho calls you and you’re able to meet with him in London, you’re not going to say no, really.
“Everyone thinks ‘oh, you go on loan, it’s not the right development path.’ But realistically, it is,” he added. “I’m taking steps to climb back up the ladder. And that was the development process in all this.”
After being released by Houston Dynamo, winger Tyler Pasher is reportedly on his way to join New York Red Bulls.
The Canadian was linked with multiple other MLS clubs including Sporting KC and Seattle Sounders.
It was a night to remember for Nashville ace Hany Mukhtar as his successful 40-yard crossbar challenge attempt won the All Star Skills Challenge for MLS against Liga MX.
And he was left starstruck after the match too!
“Finally, man … I’m so happy to win that. It was amazing,” Mukhtar said. “Honestly, I’m not usually doing crossbar challenge. I’m usually doing more shooting, finishing. That’s more my thing, but it’s cool to join here.”
Manchester City are reportedly set to sign left-back Sergio Gómez from Anderlecht in the coming days.
And with a void to fill, the Belgian club will reportedly turn to MLS to find his replacement.
In honour of the big event this week, here’s a look back at a special MLS All-Star kit from 2016.
It’s finally time!
