Following the meeting of the Consiglio di Lega today, President Ezio Simonelli, on behalf of Lega Serie A, expresses his astonishment upon learning, through the press, about a change to the system concerning the sale of audiovisual rights which directly affects its member clubs. He expresses, at the same time, Serie A's opposition to the drawing up of a law without any prior consultation with the league itself. Lega Serie A outlines its opposition to any form of increased external revenue, which would consequently divert fundamental resources from the Serie A's development and sustainability. Lega Serie A contributes to the support of lower leagues with the allocation of 10% of audiovisual right revenues.
Lastly, Lega Serie A reiterates, with great worry, the damaging effects of audiovisual privacy. This continues to severely undermine the value of the sporting system, with estimated losses exceeding 300 million euros each year. Piracy kills football.
