One of the interesting notes from Chelsea’s win over Napoli on Tuesday was the formation that Liam Rosenior used.

It was sort of a back 3, with Reece James playing as a centre back. Speaking to the club’s official website today, James discussed a little bit about how things had been more generally under the new coach:

“When a new manager arrives, there’s a different style of play, and everyone is adapting and trying to learn as quickly as possible, but the results speak for themselves,” he continued.

“It’s still early, and we’re still learning and getting to know him and the style of football he wants to play, but every session and every game we’re improving.”

James was also asked his teammate and friend Cole Palmer, who stepped up with two second half assists against the Italian side:

“Cole has been in a difficult period, and he’s had a few setbacks. We’re super happy to have him, and he showed against Napoli what he can do, even in just the 45 minutes he played,” the skipper said.

“Everyone needs to stay patient with him. He’s an amazing player, and he is still super young.”

James also noted that the win in Naples was a “special” one which showed how far this young group had come. We hope we get to see a few more special wins this season.

Ben Jacobs has contradicted some of the Fabrizio Romano news last night that Axel Disasi was “very close” to a loan to West Ham. Jacobs has insisted that Chelsea still want a sale, and West Ham are looking at other options. So don’t count this one as done just yet.
