According to Marc Mechenoua, Steve Mandanda (40) is in negotiations with Rennes over a potential contract extension. The former France international stopper’s contract at Roazhon Park is set to expire at the end of the season.

A potential one-year contract extension is being discussed between the two parties. Mandanda was expected to leave Les Rouges et Noirs at the end of the season, with questions of a potential retirement or move elsewhere being raised. However, the 40-year-old wants to continue his stay with Rennes.

It remains to be seen whether an agreement will be reached between Mandanda and the Ligue 1 club, but ongoing negotiations are a promising sign that the former OM stopper’s wishes may come to fruition. The French goalkeeper has found his minutes with Rennes reduced in the second half of the season due to the signing of Brice Samba from Lens for a fee of €14m.
