Fans we know are eagerly awaiting an announcement, but sadly Ibrox Noise was slaughtered for our story on Gerrard’s rumoured contract length, and the ‘twist’ of Danny Rohl being among one or two others interviewed alongside Gerrard in London.

But that said, if people want to shoot the messenger, we guess they can.

And with that in mind, Danny Rohl’s odds have seen such fluctuation over the pasty 24 hours that it’s worth observing what they are.

Odds

And they were 1/300. Staggeringly odds on overnight which confused so many fans. Indeed Sky Bet stopped taking bets such were the numbers.

It was the same with Will Still a previous time – we recall him ending up a stunning odds on about 1/100 and no one could fathom it. We believe this was the Philippe Clement hunt and the Belgian got the job.

Rohl? His odds went to 1/100 this morning after normalising overnight, but the betting market for the ex-Sheffield Wednesday is utterly bizarre.

Gerrard

Steven Gerrard? He’s stable at 3/10, but these kinds of odds are farcical in the German manager’s case.

At this point the bookies and punters do not know who’s getting it – Rohl is a sleeper, who we know is part of the negotiations. And he and Gerrard are the two contenders.

The smart money says Gerrard will get the gig if it can all be ratified, but Rohl seems to be hanging in there.

It’s one of them, and fans pray for Gerrard, but why do we feel like there could be a shock sting in the tail here?
