STJD clears Athletico-PR after fan attack on Corinthians keeper

This Monday (10th), Athletico-PR was acquitted by the 1st Disciplinary Commission of the STJD in the incident involving a fan of the Paraná team invading the field during the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals against Corinthians, at Ligga Arena. On that day, at 52 minutes of the second half, a member of the Red-Black team's supporters pushed goalkeeper Hugo Souza of the Alvinegro.

As a result, Athletico-PR will not lose any home games but was fined R$ 20,000 for throwing objects onto the field. On that occasion, the Alvinegro won 1-0, with a goal by the young forward Gui Negão in the first half. Previously, the Paraná team had been charged under sections II and III of article 213 and article 184 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD).

The charges under the mentioned articles occurred because the host club did not take the necessary measures to prevent a potential field invasion and throwing of objects onto the pitch. In its defense, Athletico-PR, represented by lawyer Paulo Henrique Golambiuk, emphasized that the fan was detained, identified, and charged.

The main organized fan group of Athletico-PR was punished with a three-match ban from entering their team's stadium with flags and instruments due to the incidents. Moments after the aggression against goalkeeper Hugo Souza of Corinthians, the fan was taken to DEMAFE (Mobile Police Station for Soccer and Events, linked to the Civil Police of Paraná) and charged under one of the articles of the Sports Law, which refers to disturbances and practices that encourage violence during a sports event.

The following day, the 29-year-old fan in question, who was intoxicated, recorded a video apologizing for the incident.
