STJD clears Pedro Mané, warns Vitor Severino, fines Grêmio after Bragantino dismissals | OneFootball

Grêmio assistants Pedro Mané and Vitor Severino avoided suspensions at the STJD's fourth Disciplinary Commission on Thursday after their dismissals against Bragantino in round 24 of the Brasileirão. Mané was acquitted and Severino received only a warning.

According to Globo.com, both were charged under Article 258 of the Brazilian Sports Justice Code for disrespecting the officials, an offence that carries a ban of one to six matches.

Referee Felipe Fernandes de Lima wrote in his match report that Mané was dismissed in the first half for deliberately leaving the technical area and gesturing in a harsh and provocative manner towards the decisions.

Severino was sent off after the break for also stepping out of the technical area and addressing the fourth official vehemently in disagreement. The report recorded that he called the entire officiating team weak and told them to note his words.

Grêmio’s defence presented video of the game to dispute that the assistants had left the technical area deliberately and sought acquittal. In Severino’s case, they asked that only his words to the fourth official be considered.

Rapporteur Gabriel Fonseca voted to clear Mané. For Severino, he applied the minimum one-match penalty, converted into a warning because it was a first offence, and fined Grêmio R$ 2,000 under Article 258-D, a decision backed unanimously by the panel.
