The STJD’s Fifth Disciplinary Commission has postponed Santos’ case arising from the 2-2 draw with Botafogo. Monday’s hearing was halted when the session president had to leave, and a request from Santos’ counsel for an adjournment due to insufficient staff was granted.
The case will now be heard on Monday 9 March. It stems from the 30th round Brasileirão match at Nilton Santos on 26 October last year.
In his match report, referee Rodrigo Jose Pereira de Lima recorded that at half-time director of football Alexandre Mattos entered the pitch, confronted the officials, shouted, pointed and pulled the referee’s shirt before police restrained him.
As the officials headed to the dressing room in the mixed zone, club president Marcelo Teixeira and football manager Gustavo Ferreira approached in a threatening and offensive manner. That account includes Ferreira calling them thieves and saying they would not officiate Santos again, while Teixeira said they had harmed the club. The behaviour was described as repetitive, abusive and intimidating.
The report also noted delays of two minutes to kick-off and three minutes to the restart attributed to Santos, with added time due to substitutions, treatment of possible injuries and hydration breaks requested by the CBF doctor.
Santos were charged under CBJD articles 206 and 191. Teixeira and Mattos face counts under article 258, with Mattos additionally cited for invasion under article 258-B and for physical aggression under article 254-A, with cumulative penalties under article 184. Ferreira is charged under article 243-F, which covers offences against honour and allows fines and suspension.
