Marc Keller, president of Strasbourg since 2012, faces an open revolt after Liam Rosenior quit mid-season for Chelsea. The club’s main supporters’ federation has demanded his immediate departure.
According to L'Équipe, the 41-year-old confirmed his move at an improvised news conference on Tuesday, admitting the timing was 'not perfect'. He said Keller tried to keep him but did not block the exit, despite a deal to 2028.
He said he loves Strasbourg, could not turn down a huge club in Chelsea, and that the switch brings him closer to his children.
The Fédération des Supporters du Racing Club de Strasbourg called the move a humiliating step in the club’s subservience to Chelsea and demanded Keller’s resignation. It said trust had collapsed despite recent dialogue.
Fans argue the problem is structural and touches the future of French club football. Keller’s 2025 claim that Strasbourg were not Chelsea’s feeder, made amid leaks of Emmanuel Emegha’s expected end-of-season move, has rebounded.
The FSRCS said it is coordinating with three other associations against multi-ownership and warned of renewed protests. Its demand is blunt, Keller should leave now.
