Strasbourg plan a quiet January as Rosenior demands response

According to L'Équipe, Strasbourg, sliding in Ligue 1, do not plan major January business. A dire run since mid-October, only 11 points from 11 league matches, has not changed that.

The window opens on 1 January and, for now, only Senegalese winger Yaya Diémé, 18 and training with Chelsea, is guaranteed to arrive. A move for Ecuadorian forward Jeremy Arévalo, 20, was seen for the summer and he is instead heading to Germany. With BlueCo prone to mid-window changes, nothing is entirely ruled out.

After Sunday’s 0-0 with Lorient, Liam Rosenior said they miss Andrey Santos and criticised players for ignoring positional and set-piece instructions. He vowed fewer excuses after the break and warned that those who disobey will have problems.

The summer rebuild was vast, 18 additions comprising 12 signings, three options exercised and three Chelsea loans. That intake is now expected to deliver.

Mathis Amougou, 19, bought from Chelsea for €12m and tied to 2030, is under pressure, as is Félix Lemaréchal, 22, contracted to 2029. Lemaréchal has played only one of the last seven Ligue 1 games, attracting interest from French clubs.

Midfielder Maxi Oyedele, 21 and contracted to 2030, has yet to play in the league or Conference League, logging only 23 minutes in the play-offs due to injuries. Tyrese Noubissie, 16, joined the first-team group on 28 November and should debut on Sunday in the Coupe de France against Dunkerque.
