18-month suspended sentence sought for Ligue 1 referee over alleged domestic violence | OneFootball

The public prosecutor requested an 18-month suspended prison sentence for Abdelatif K., the Ligue 1 referee tried on Friday at the Nîmes criminal court over alleged domestic violence.

According to L'Équipe, the request includes provisional enforcement and an order to undergo treatment. He has officiated in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons.

He is accused of two incidents, one on 13 March 2026 that did not cause incapacity, and another on 13 May resulting in incapacity of fewer than eight days.

Placed under judicial supervision on 15 May, the 40-year-old was heard last week by the federal referees’ commission, which sought his account of events.

Abdelatif K. is on sick leave until 18 August. The court is due to deliver its decision on 19 August at 9am.
