Stuart Harvey has been appointed Stoke City’s technical director, his first job since leaving Sunderland.
The club said in a statement that his remit will support first-team coaching and recruitment, research and analytics, football administration, medical and performance, the women’s first team, and the boys’ and girls’ academies. He will report to sporting director Jonathan Walters.
Harvey joined Sunderland as head of recruitment in the months after Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’s takeover.
He became a key figure as the Black Cats rose from League One to the Premier League.
He left earlier this season amid director of football Florent Ghisolfi’s overhaul of the recruitment operation, and now takes on a broader brief at the bet365 Stadium.
