As it stands, Alexander Nübel is set to return to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2026 after three seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart.

Whether that will actually happen - or if a permanent move to Stuttgart could be arranged - remains unclear.

“Alexander Nübel is absolutely undisputed as our number one,” Stuttgart director of sport Fabian Wohlgemuth said on ‘Sky90’ on Sunday evening.

A permanent signing of Nübel has been seen as financially challenging for Stuttgart due to Bayern’s transfer demands and the player’s wages, but Wohlgemuth didn't want to rule anything out.

“He doesn’t have any concrete plans yet, and Bayern also haven't settled on a clear goalkeeper setup. So nothing can be ruled out. But it’s far too early to speculate,” added the 46-year-old official.

Dennis Seimen, 19, currently on loan at SC Paderborn, “will eventually be Stuttgart’s Bundesliga goalkeeper,” Wohlgemuth confirmed, but he reiterated that “nothing can be ruled out” at this stage of the season.

Wohlgemuth also briefly commented on the future of Angelo Stiller, who has been linked with several top clubs, including Manchester United and Real Madrid.

“He has a contract with us,” he said, adding:

“Of course, a few clubs will have taken notice of him.”

Reports have suggested that Stuttgart would demand at least €50 million to sell their midfield talisman.
