Stuttgart explored move for Fabio Silva before Dortmund transfer | OneFootball

VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth says the club tried to sign Fabio Silva before his move to Borussia Dortmund. “We looked into him a year ago,” he said on Sky 90.

Silva joined Dortmund in the summer of 2025 from Wolves for €22.5m. After a below-par first season, the 24-year-old has begun this campaign strongly.

On Matchday three, he started for Niko Kovac’s side alongside Serhou Guirassy. He scored after five minutes in a 3-0 win over Paderborn.

“He’s obviously having a good spell, and Dortmund can be happy to have him,” Wohlgemuth acknowledged.

There were summer rumours Silva could leave, but Dortmund kept him and he has repaid the coach’s trust so far. Stuttgart may now reflect on what might have been.
