‘Submitted An Official Offer’ – Club Try For Newcastle United Star, Await Response | OneFootball

Besiktas have now ‘submitted an official offer’ to Newcastle United for Joe Willock and are waiting for the Magpies to respond.

Willock could well move on from St James’ Park before the transfer window closes and Besiktas have been working to take him to Turkey.

Talks have been held with Willock’s agent, while one former player claimed that a move to Besiktas for the midfielder was close.

Work still needs to be done at club level it appears and Besiktas have put together a proposal for Newcastle to consider.

According to Turkish daily Takvim, they have ‘submitted an official offer’ to Newcastle and are now waiting for a response from the Magpies.

It is unclear what level of bid Besiktas have put in for the midfielder, but they will hope it is good enough to get the green light to move forward with the deal.

Besiktas are looking to challenge for the Turkish Super Lig title this season and pulled off an eye-catching signing in the shape of Leandro Trossard from Arsenal.

Willock made 39 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle over the course of last term and made four goal contributions in what was a tough campaign for the Magpies.

Newcastle have put a clear focus on signing young and hungry players this summer, adding Aladji Bamba and Sean Steur to compete with Willock for a midfield spot.

The club also want to make another signing in the midfield department and are focusing on bringing in an experienced performer.

It has become a huge priority before the transfer window closes, but approaches for Joao Palhinha and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have come to nothing.

Newcastle have recently landed another young midfielder in the shape of Ousmane Diabate, but he has been loaned by to Turkish side Genclerbirligi to finish the season.
