Jimmy The Punt tips player cards on Super Sunday
Sunday, 12:30
Sometimes you gotta compromise.
That is what Daniel Farke did. He switched to a back five and now his Leeds side genuinely look like European candidates.
The change happened at the interval at the Etihad and Leeds almost salvaged a point. Since then, they have taken 10 from the 18 on offer and scored three goals on three separate occasions despite playing Chelsea and Liverpool (twice) across that sample.
Coincidently, the tactical tweak coincides with Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hot streak.
The frontman has scored seven goals across his last seven appearances, the first coming four minutes into the second half at Manchester City.
The England international was rested at Liverpool with an eye on this clash and yet he almost scored from the bench but was foiled by the offside flag.
Opponents Manchester United haven't kept a clean sheet on the road all campaign, conceding 18 in 10 games with six of those sides netting two or more goals.
At 6/4 backing Calvert-Lewin to score anytime appeals.

Anthony Taylor is a referee which fluctuates from the sublime (high card tallies) to the ridiculous (no card games) and he is on fire at the moment.
Across his last six Premier League games, he has dished out 33Y and 1R cards which is an average of 5.67 a game. Across that sample he has given no fewer than three cards in a game, an eight card game and a nine card game (5/8/6/3/9/3).
So, the player card market is worth a visit here.
Michael Kayode has picked up four bookings this term, three of which coming in his last five league appearances for Brentford.
On Sunday, there is a chance he will be opposing Jack Grealish, Everton's most fouled player drawing 2.8 per game.
At 3/1, Brentford's right backs price to be shown a card appeals.

Backing Liverpool to receive the most cards, Liverpool to commit the most fouls in each half and Fulham to have the most shots on target pays out at 55/1 with the Sportsbook and I think it is worth a small punt.
Since the start of Liverpool's demise (14 games ago), this bet has clicked once (vs Nottingham Forest) and gone very close on another two occasions (vs Manchester City and Sunderland).
In nine league games at Craven Cottage, Fulham have only won the card count twice, had less shots on target then their opponents twice and committed the most fouls on four occasions.

Newcastle are yet to click into gear this campaign and yet are within striking distance of the European spots.
In the league, Eddie Howe's side have only won back-to-back games once but have not lost at home since September.
The Magpies signed off 2025 with a win at Turf Moor and play Leeds and Wolves after an out of sorts Crystal Palace. January could be a big month for them.
The Eagles are out of sort at the minute, winless in six and clearly suffering the consequences of a lengthy list of absentees.
At odds on, I do not trust Newcastle though so no bet in this one.

Stuart Atwell has the whistle in North London. He is the best referee for dishing out cards in the Premier League (of the refs to take charge of at least 10 games) averaging exactly five a match.
Coincidentally, Tottenham are the most carded side in the division (48Y 2R) and Sunderland rank seventh (37Y 2R). So, naturally, the player card market has to be worth a look.
Cristian Romero appeals to be carded at 12/5, he has picked up seven yellows and a red in 15 Premier League appearances. Feels like a no-brainer at the price available.
I am also going to combine Romero with Archie Gray at 5/1 and Enzo Le Fee at 16/5. The card treble pays out at 64/1.
Gray has picked up three cards in seven league starts this season. He is playing in central midfield consistently and has picked up three times as many cards as he did last season in under a third of the appearances.
Le Fee is his side's joint most carded player (4), three of which have come in his last six league appearances.

It was only at the end of November Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 and then held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw with 10 men.
That proved to be the end of a seven game unbeaten run and the start of Enzo Maresca's demise.
The Blues only won two of the eight following games (D3 L3) and after a breakdown in relationships behind the scenes, Maresca was relieved of his duties on New Year's Day.
Now his former side head to Manchester City without the suspended Moises Caicedo, things look bleak.
Pep Guardiola's are unbeaten in nine, winning their previous eight on the spin before the New Year's Day trip to the Stadium of Light.
If I had to pick a winner in this clash it would be the Cityzens but at the prices currently available, I wouldn't back them.
