Sunderland vs Leeds

The last time these two clubs squared off in the Premier League was back on Boxing Day, 2002. Michael Proctor grabbed the opener for Sunderland before second half goals from James Milner and Robbie Fowler won the game for Leeds.

They've played each other plenty of times since, just not in the top flight. Last season, the pair of sides served up a couple of classics in the Championship which saw a total of seven goals and 15 cards. Leeds won four points off the Black Cats en route to the title.

The visitors come into this in top form, they have scored 11 and are unbeaten in four (W2 D2) despite playing Liverpool and Chelsea across that sample.

This uptick coincides with a pretty seismic shift in style from Daniel Farke.

He switched from a 4-3-3 to a 3-5-2, incorporated more of the big boys into the XI and adopted a more direct approach. Just in the nick of time too because according to reports, he was close to losing his job at the beginning of the month.

Hosts Sunderland start the round of fixtures in sixth spot, eight points and 10 places better off than Leeds. Staggering considering they finished 24 points behind them in the Championship last season.

The Black Cats are unbeaten at the Stadium of Light in the league and have taken maximum points in five games against bottom half sides, winning three to nil.

Ordinarily, I'd be looking to get them onside but Regis Le Bris' will be without six players here due to AFCON and his side are massively overperforming on the underlying metrics.

To the goalscorer market where Joe Rodon is 11/1 to score anytime.

Since the switch to a back three, Rodon's been operating higher up the pitch but is also a major set piece threat. Against Palace, one of his shots came from open play, the other three came via dead balls.

He's averaged 0.7 shots per game and netted twice but his side top the charts for set piece goals (12), five of which have come in their last four games.

Naturally, it is worth covering Ethan Ampadu to score anytime at 18/1 and Jaka Bijol at 12/1.

Both players have netted in Leeds' last four games.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham

At 2.08 with the Exchange, backing over 2.5 goals has to be the bet at Selhurst Park.

It's clicked in 53% of Crystal Palace's 17 league games this campaign and five of their last six games in all competitions.

Aside from the recent form for goals, Oliver Glasner has key injuries to contend with on Sunday and AFCON absentees leaving them a little thin on the ground.

Then factor in their hectic schedule and it makes a stronger case for goals. This will be Palace's eighth and final game of December and their first of four across a 10 day period leading into the winter break

Opponents Tottenham have seen overs click in 70.6% of their league games including each of their last seven on the road.

It is also worth noting Thomas Frank will be without the suspended Cristian Romero.
