Gunners are still perfect in title defence

Bruno Guimaraes received a hostile welcome to Wearside for Arsenal’s clash against Sunderland, but he had the final laugh with a goal in their 2-0 win.

Making his way from the Arsenal team bus to the entrance of the Stadium of Light, the former Newcastle man was greeted with a chorus of boos from the Sunderland faithful.

His last outing at the Stadium of Light came last year in December when, as Newcastle captain, the Magpies fell to a 1-0 defeat against their bitter rivals.

The 28-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal at the start of August for £75million and made his Premier League debut for the Gunners from the bench during their 1-0 victory at Aston Villa.

Guimaraes was named among the substitutes for Saturday’s clash with the Black Cats and was brought on at the start of the second half, where he received boos from the home crowd before being jeered further when he touched the ball.

However, 58 minutes in Guimaraes hit a superb strike into the top corner, which bounced in off the underside of the crossbar before celebrating in front of the Sunderland crowd, cupping his hands to his ears.
