Sunderland have added youngster Jack Campbell to their academy on a two-year deal, and are said to have fresh encouragement over Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
Il Mattino claims Napoli could consider sales to Premier League clubs this summer, with Anguissa among those whose futures may be reviewed. The report says Sunderland would not find the door closed if they returned for the 30-year-old, who is under contract until 2027.
Sunderland explored a move for the former Fulham midfielder last summer after their top-flight return, but he remained in Naples, having played an important role in Napoli’s second Serie A title in three years.
This summer could be significant for Napoli if they seek a fee, and it is suggested the player’s family remain open to a return to England. Anguissa has Premier League experience from his time at Fulham. Any approach would come with considerations, including his recent fitness record.
Separately, Campbell joins after a 12-week trial on Wearside earlier this season. The teenager previously played for Berwick Rangers up to under-14 level.
