Sunderland have appointed Jack Bewley as a first-team analyst under Régis Le Bris, adding to their Academy of Light structure after promotion to the Premier League.

In a LinkedIn post, Bewley said he was delighted to take the role and to contribute while completing an MSc in Sport Performance Analysis with the University of Worcester.

Bewley joins after serving as a first-team analyst intern at Rochdale during the 2025-26 campaign. He previously worked as a set-piece analyst intern at Norwich City and undertook performance analysis duties with FC Marshalls.

The Black Cats are strengthening operations across departments, and further behind-the-scenes growth is expected as the Academy of Light is developed. The club have also advertised a senior analyst role, underlining the push to expand their analysis resources.

While the Black Cats have punched above their weight this season, there is acceptance that Premier League football demands a significant step up on and off the pitch, including staffing, infrastructure and preparation.

Bewley studied Science and Football at Liverpool John Moores University, graduating with a 2:1.

Sunderland face Chelsea in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light this weekend, with a place in Europe on the line for Le Bris’ men.
