Régis Le Bris has issued an injury update before Sunderland’s game against Spurs on Sunday, indicating Romaine Mundle and Jocelin Ta Bi are likely to miss the remainder of the season, while there is hope Bertrand Traoré might feature before it finishes.
According to Sunderland Echo, Mundle has undergone hamstring surgery and Ta Bi ankle surgery, and Le Bris does not expect either to rejoin training until the very end of the campaign. The pair are unlikely to be risked in competitive action and will prioritise being ready for pre-season.
Le Bris added that Traoré could come back a little earlier, and he remains hopeful he can play some part in the run-in.
The head coach reported an improved overall picture after a three-week break, with Robin Roefs now available. Dan Ballard and Nilson Angulo remain sidelined but are very close to a return, while Reinildo, Enzo Le Fée and Nordi Mukiele could come back into the starting XI against Spurs.
He said readiness will dictate selections in the final weeks rather than chasing late-season minutes.
