Sunderland close on Kevin Danso as Tottenham line up Tosin and Mudryk | OneFootball

Sunderland are close to signing Kevin Danso on loan with an option to buy, with the move expected once Tottenham complete their own defensive business, Sunderland Echo reports.

The 27-year-old Austria international has agreed personal terms and a medical has been booked. Spurs paid around £21m to sign him permanently from Lens after an initial loan, and he has since fallen down the pecking order after telling Roberto De Zerbi he wanted to leave.

Spurs’ replacement is set to be Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo. A £7m permanent deal plus add-ons and personal terms are in place for the 28-year-old, who is understood to have been given permission to undergo a medical.

Sunderland first pushed for a straight loan but were rebuffed, then talks restarted around a different structure. Danso’s switch has been contingent on Spurs finalising cover.

The London clubs are also working on Mykhailo Mudryk’s paid loan to Tottenham, with the winger among Sunderland’s late-window attacking options. The Ukraine international is set to reunite with De Zerbi, having worked together at Shakhtar Donetsk.

The agreement contains a non-mandatory purchase option worth £75m and is moving towards completion after the clubs reached terms. Chelsea originally paid up to £88.5m to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar in 2023.

That leaves three interconnected moves nearing completion, with Tosin providing the cover for Spurs to release Danso to Wearside as Mudryk heads across London.
