Sunderland close to Jules Ahoka deal as terms agreed and medical planned | OneFootball

Sunderland are close to signing Royal Antwerp midfielder Jules Ahoka, with club-to-club and personal terms agreed and permission granted for a weekend medical, Sunderland Echo understands.

The 20-year-old DR Congo youth international is a deep-lying midfielder who joined Antwerp from AC Normands last year and has since made senior appearances.

He has featured in both of Antwerp’s league matches this season, supplying an assist against SK Beveren earlier this month, and impressed for his country at the Toulon Tournament in the summer.

Head coach Régis Le Bris said this week that Sunderland are still working to add reinforcements before the window shuts, while stressing the market is difficult and that patience and organisation remain key.

To date the club have managed only one signing in a challenging window, and a move for Toulouse left back Dayann Methalie has stalled after an issue emerged during his medical.
