Sunderland could unlock a sizeable transfer and wage boost this summer by moving on fringe players. The strategy would create headroom within PSR, SCR and UEFA limits.

According to Sunderland Echo, Florent Ghisolfi’s brief includes slimming the squad to protect value and free budget. Dennis Cirkin, Dan Neil and Bertrand Traore have already departed, easing salary pressure.

Simon Adingra is a major call, with Monaco said to have passed on a buy option after his loan, so a return looms and a fee north of £10 million could be sought. Anthony Patterson is valued around £8 million to £10 million, with Wrexham and Millwall linked.

Rennes are thought to be pushing for Eliezer Mayenda and the striker wants regular football, he is contracted until 2030 and a £20 million-plus sale would be a major success. Wilson Isidor is understood to want more minutes, and serious bids could reach around £15 million-plus, though an exit would leave a hole up front.

Nazariy Rusyn could join Karpaty Lviv for about £500,000, trimming losses via a fee and wage saving, while Jenson Seelt might bring £2 million to £5 million or leave on loan. Collectively, Adingra, Patterson, Mayenda, Isidor, Rusyn and Seelt could produce £55.5 million to £60.5 million-plus, not a prediction but a marker of potential.

Values can move quickly with demand, contracts, player preference and negotiations. Beyond fees, wage-led exits for Arthur Masuaku, Leo Hjelde, Timothée Pembélé, Aji Alese, Alan Browne, Abdoullah Ba, Luis Semedo and Timur Tutierov could still deliver a useful boost.
