Sunderland first-half ratings at York City as Le Fee scores twice | OneFootball

Sunderland opened their 2026/27 campaign at York City and surged into a 4-0 half-time lead at the LNER Community Stadium. Enzo Le Fee struck twice, with Chris Rigg and Timur Tutierov also on target.

According to Sunderland Echo, Régis Le Bris used an experienced XI before switching to a predominantly academy side after the break.

Le Fee bookended the first period with two first-time finishes, while Sunderland’s superior quality in the final third told despite York moving the ball well at times.

Melker Ellborg had little to do, making a sharp block at the back post before an offside flag, and was tidy in possession, rated six.

Trai Hume impressed on the ball, involved in the opener and supplying Rigg for the second, though his flank offered the odd threat, rated seven.

Nordi Mukiele cruised through, assured in possession, and produced two excellent sliding tackles, one sparking a chance for Rigg and another leading to Le Fee’s goal, rated eight.

Luke O’Nien made a couple of important interventions when York delivered into the box and looked comfortable on the ball, rated seven.
