In a recent report, Diario de Navarra (subscription required) mentioned that Sunderland have made a move for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz. It has been claimed that the Black Cats could face competition from Newcastle United and Real Madrid in pursuit of the Spanish talent this summer.
Munoz had a decent campaign at the Spanish club recently as he was responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old featured in 36 matches for Osasuna last season, scoring seven times and picking up five assists in the process across all competitions.
The Barcelona-born talent is currently one of the most talented young wide players in La Liga. Thus, it is no surprise that Sunderland are in the mix to sign him this summer.
His current contract at the La Liga club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for the Black Cats to land Munoz on the cheap in this transfer period.
CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE – JUNE 05:
Left-winger Víctor Muñoz of Team Spain arrives ahead of the World Cup at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport on June 05, 2026 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Munoz can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the pitch and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Spanish wide player can even contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the wide areas. Munoz is primarily a left-winger but can also play as a striker or as a right-sided wide player if required. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to get him on board later this year.
Munoz would add more goals and assists to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ attack in the long run. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light next season.
At 22, Munoz has got the ceiling to be a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, he would be a great signing for Sunderland in the long run. However, Le Bris has to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of the Spanish wing wizard at the Wearside club.
