Sunderland leave Chemsdine Talbi and Melker Ellborg out of Europa League squad | OneFootball

Sunderland have named their 22-man Europa League squad, with Chemsdine Talbi and Melker Ellborg left out. According to Sunderland Echo, the decisions follow a summer of heavy recruitment and UEFA registration rules.

Talbi has featured sporadically under Régis Le Bris and was unused in the 1-0 win over Fulham at the weekend. He does not appear on the club’s primary European list.

Robin Roefs and Simon Moore are the named goalkeepers. The nine defenders are Omar Alderete, Dan Ballard, Kevin Danso, Trai Hume, Reinildo, Dayann Méthalie, Thomas Meunier, Nordi Mukiele and Luke O'Nien.

Midfield options are Jules Ahoka, Habib Diarra, Enzo Le Fée, Chris Rigg, Noah Sadiki and Granit Xhaka. The forwards are Nilson Angulo, Brian Brobbey, Malick Fofana, Wilson Isidor and Romaine Mundle.

Deadline-day signing Juan Riquelme Angulo is not included, the 18-year-old Ecuadorian arrived from Independiente del Valle as a longer-term project. Aji Alese, Alan Browne and Jocelin Ta Bi are also absent from the 22-player list.

Florent Ghisolfi strengthened the squad for a campaign across four competitions, but UEFA registration rules restrict selections. Eligible youngsters can still be registered on List B during the league phase, offering Sunderland some flexibility.
