Sunderland share top spot in the Premier League table for points won from losing positions this season.
The Black Cats have collected 19 such points, and only Aston Villa can match that tally. According to Sunderland Echo, it underlines the resilience of Regis Le Bris’ side.
Their return to the top flight was sealed with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United in last season’s Championship play-off final, followed by a summer window that delivered Granit Xhaka, Brian Brobbey and Robin Roefs.
Comeback highlights include Brobbey’s winner at Newcastle, Chemsdine Talbi’s late strike in the 2-1 success at Chelsea, and Wilson Isidor’s clincher against Brentford at the Stadium of Light. Brentford are firmly in the race for a European spot with only three matches left this season.
Beyond the fightbacks, the campaign has featured hard-earned draws with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, and a historic derby double over Newcastle United.
