Sunderland’s loanees are shaping promotion races as the season nears its end, with Dan Neil driving Ipswich Town’s push and others experiencing mixed fortunes.
Neil, who captained Sunderland to Premier League promotion at Wembley last season, is on loan at third-placed Ipswich. Victory at Charlton Athletic could move Kieran McKenna’s side into the automatic places.
“It was a massively proud moment. There’s definitely a little bit of fire in my belly to get back after the way it went at the start of the season.” The comments were in Ipswich Town’s matchday programme.
At Monaco, Simon Adingra has three goals in 13 outings and featured in the Champions League play-off round against Paris Saint-Germain. Anthony Patterson has five clean sheets in 12 for Millwall under former Sunderland boss Alex Neil.
Jenson Seelt’s injuries have limited the Wolfburg defender to ten appearances, including a DFB-Pokal red card against Horsten Kiel. Arthur Masuaku has four Lens outings after injuries and a dismissal. Leo Hjelde has six for Sheffield United, one start.
Timothee Pembele has ten Ligue 1 appearances for Le Havre, two starts. Alan Browne has 37 for Middlesbrough with four goals and three assists. Aji Alese suffered a serious groin injury after one Portsmouth cameo in a 1-0 defeat to Preston.
Nazariy Rusyn has four in 23 for Arka Gdynia. Niall Huggins has 22 for Wycombe, with one goal and two assists. Luis Semedo has two in 17 for Moreirense. York’s Zak Johnson is part of a side over 100 points and must avoid defeat at Rochdale to be champions.
