Sunderland ‘not giving up’ on Malick Fofana pursuit | OneFootball

Sunderland are still pushing to sign Belgium international Malick Fofana, 21, despite Crystal Palace’s late intervention, according to L’Equipe.

The Black Cats believed they had a clear run after striking a Deadline Day €35m agreement for the left winger, and even booked a medical.

Earlier today Palace appeared to outbid their Premier League rivals, with Lyon accepting a €39m package. The report said a call from Palace manager Pierre Sage, who oversaw Fofana’s development at Lyon, swayed the player towards a move to Selhurst Park.

However, the report adds that Sunderland have not abandoned the chase and have revived the move by offering much higher commissions to the player’s agents.

Fofana is in London but has yet to undergo a medical with Palace, and the Eagles are currently unaware of his whereabouts.
