Sunderland star commits his future to the club as Black Cats target more signings before deadline | OneFootball

Sunderland winger Romaine Mundle has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 2030.

The 23-year-old joined the Black Cats from Belgian side Standard Liège in 2024 and has since made 52 appearances, registering eight goal contributions.

Seven of those came during Sunderland’s Championship play-off-winning campaign in 2024-25.

“I’m really grateful,” Mundle said.

“It feels amazing to be a part of the Club and I want to prove myself and consistently build and give the fans what they want, but mostly I just want the squad to do well, compete and surprise people.

“I’m growing every day, training hard and the people around me are really helping so I think there’s a lot more to come.”

Sunderland director of football Florent Ghisolfi praised Mundle’s development and believes the winger still has plenty of room to improve.

“Romaine has developed significantly since joining the Club, and we have seen his potential grow through his performances and his work on the training ground,” Ghisolfi said.

“He has important qualities that can make a difference at this level, particularly his pace, directness and ability to create opportunities.”

Sunderland completed the signing of midfielder Jules Ahoka this week and remain keen on further adding to their squad before the window closes.
