Sunderland target Lawrence Shankland breaks silence on his future

Sunderland target Lawrence Shankland has confirmed that he will leave Ayr United this summer.

Shankland enjoyed a standout 2018/19 campaign, scoring 24 goals and assisting five in 31 Scottish Championship appearances.

According to Chronicle Live, the Black Cats saw interest turned down last year but could revisit his signing again twelve months later.

“Most enjoyable two seasons of my career so far and a time I’ll definitely not forget,” the 24-year-old posted on Twitter.

“Thanks to all my team-mates and the staff and wish everyone at @AyrUnitedFC all the best for the future.”

Swansea and Rangers are also said to be interested in the Scottish striker.
