Sunderland fans were given an early look at the concept and colour scheme for the club’s 2026/27 third kit at a special event on Monday evening, with the full launch due on Thursday.
Sunderland Echo reports that the strip, designed once again by hummel, celebrates the city’s glassmaking heritage.
Yellow text was projected onto the historic St Peter’s Church in Monkwearmouth, set against a blue backdrop, carrying a message that referenced glassmaking since the seventh century.
St Peter’s, home to one of the earliest recorded uses of stained glass in England, provides the inspiration for the shirt, 14 centuries on.
Supporters at the church received a pin badge from club staff, offering a further clue to the design that will form the shirt’s backdrop.
