Despite a clean, sponsorless reveal, Sunderland will carry a front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2026-27 season.
According to Sunderland Echo, the club have not confirmed the identity and will announce a new main partner in due course.
The Hummel home kit was unveiled on Tuesday without branding across the chest. The minimalist look pleased fans but prompted rumours of a sponsorless campaign.
Supporters who purchase shirts before the announcement will be able to have the sponsor added later. Further details will follow once the partnership is unveiled.
Launching without branding appears linked to the timing of the agreement rather than a deliberate plan to stay sponsorless. The date of the announcement remains unclear.
The deal comes ahead of a significant campaign, with Sunderland in the Premier League and Europa League. Growing commercial income is part of wider plans as Florent Ghisolfi and Régis Le Bris prepare for European demands.
