Sunderland ‘to continue’ Methalie talks as Florent Ghisolfi plans take shape | OneFootball

Sunderland’s transfer drive is gathering pace, with talks continuing over Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie and separate links to Ernest Poku and Simon Adingra.

RMC Sport previously reported agreement with the 20-year-old over a five-year deal, and L’Équipe says negotiations are continuing after an opening offer of around £17million was rejected. The Guardian reported Newcastle, who had scouted Methalie, decided against a formal bid, and Aston Villa made an enquiry, leaving Sunderland well placed.

Bild claims Sunderland are trying to tempt Bayer Leverkusen winger Ernest Poku to the Premier League, with Leverkusen open to a sale and seeking around £21.4million for the Netherlands under-21 international, whose deal runs to 2030. It adds he scored six and provided 10 assists in his first season and can play across the front line. Sunderland want another wide player after Bertrand Traoré’s exit, though how advanced their interest is remains unclear.

La Gazzetta dello Sport and Leggo suggest Roma have shortlisted Simon Adingra after his loan at Monaco, with sporting director Tony D’Amico an admirer who views a deal as financially manageable. They put Sunderland’s valuation at about £30million. Adingra is under contract until 2030, so the club are under no immediate pressure to sell.

TEAMtalk has separately reported that several clubs have registered interest in the 24-year-old, and there has been no indication yet of a formal bid. Decisions on his future sit with head coach Régis Le Bris and sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.
