Sunderland have exceeded expectations on their Premier League return and, after the international break, enter the run-in chasing European qualification for the second time in their history. According to Sunderland Echo, Regis Le Bris will lean on his most valuable players as they look to round off a memorable campaign.
Momentum from a Championship play-off final win over Sheffield United and a successful summer window set the tone. An opening-day win over West Ham United followed, with Eliezer Mayenda, Wilson Isidor and Dan Ballard scoring at a sold-out Stadium of Light.
Results stacked up, with victories over Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth, and hard-earned draws with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. The standout has been a league double over Newcastle United.
In December a Nick Woltemade own goal decided the derby at the Stadium of Light. Earlier this month Chemsdine Talbi and Brian Brobbey struck to turn it around for a 2-1 win on Tyneside after falling behind.
The 10 most valuable Sunderland players are led by Habib Diarra at €32.00m, then Noah Sadiki at €30.00m. Valued at €25.00m are Brian Brobbey, Enzo Le Fee, Chemsdine Talbi and Chris Rigg, with Trai Hume at €22.00m, Lutsharel Geertruida and Dan Ballard at €20.00m, and Nordi Mukiele at €18.00m.
Across the division Manchester City lead on €1.31bn, ahead of Arsenal on €1.23bn, Chelsea on €1.16bn and Liverpool on €1.02bn. Sunderland’s squad is valued at €381.95m, 16th, between Fulham on €386.95m and West Ham on €362.65m, with Leeds United 18th on €346.03m.
