Supercopa final draws record crowd at Mané Garrincha

Corinthians' victory in the Supercopa do Brasil, confirmed last Sunday (02) with a 2-0 win over Flamengo, made history not only for the sporting result but also for the impact in the stands. The final, held at Arena Mané Garrincha in Brasília, marked the largest audience ever recorded at the stadium since its inauguration.

Bringing together the two largest fan bases in the country, the final was attended by 71,244 fans. This number surpassed the previous record at the venue, which was set during the match between Brazil and Colombia on March 20, 2025, when 70,027 people watched Brazil's 2-1 victory. The attendance also exceeded the draw between Brazil and South Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games (69,389 attendees) and the match between Brazil and Cameroon at the 2014 World Cup, which had 69,112 fans in the stadium.

For the Supercopa final, the ticket allocation was equally divided between Corinthians and Flamengo. In addition to the tickets allocated to organized fan groups, the alvinegro club made tickets available to members of the Fiel Torcedor program, while the event organizers sold tickets to the general public. In total, around 32,000 tickets were available to Corinthians fans.

The mobilization of the Fiel in Brasília was significant. Approximately 110 buses of Corinthians' organized fan groups traveled to the federal capital to watch the final, with 74 of them from Gaviões da Fiel. Other groups, such as Camisa 12, Coringão Chopp, Estopim da Fiel, Fiel Macabra, and Pavilhão Nove, were also present. It was estimated that about six thousand uniformed fans were in the stands, with approximately seven thousand tickets distributed among organized groups and members.

The record attendance generated a gross revenue of R$ 12,690,257. This amount is about 10% higher than the total prize money received by Corinthians for winning the Supercopa, which exceeds R$ 11.5 million. However, as stipulated in the competition's regulations, all ticket revenue is allocated to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), with no financial distribution to the participating clubs.

With the triumph over Flamengo, Corinthians reached its 16th match played at Mané Garrincha. The club's record at the stadium now includes seven wins, four draws, and five losses. The victory also ended a winless streak for Timão in Brasília, as the last positive result was recorded in July 2018, when they defeated Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian Championship.
