An exciting superstar has agreed a six-year deal with Liverpool.

Last summer we felt like Richard Hughes could do no wrong, this time around it has felt like he could do no right.

This window has been a mess.

There's no secret the club's primary target was Yan Diomande. In a sense Liverpool had put all their eggs in one basket and saw the Ivorian as the perfect right-wing successor to Mo Salah's throne.

But while Liverpool believed they had their man, the truth was far from straightforward. Diomande had played the Reds. His heart was first set on Paris, and thus came his rejection.

Ultimately, he ended up joining Real Madrid, where he will be providing a star-studded team under Jose Mourinho even more ammunition.

It feels like that Diomande rejection threw an entire curveball on Liverpool's summer activity.

That Salah successor has become not so clear.

Hughes has been going back and forth, making approaches for Endrick, trying to bid for Ismaila Sarr and bidding unsuccessfully for Yankuba Minteh.

Who knows who else the Liverpool sporting director might go for.

There are still a few days left and you get the sense that Liverpool are not finished. The truth is that Liverpool don't have to have a like-for-like replacement for Salah.

They have already replaced his output in the aggregate with Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, the former bringing the goals, the latter the creativity.

That was always Hughes' master-plan. But it doesn't mean Liverpool don't need an actual right-winger.

Sure, some players can play on either wing but the truth is that most players will have a preferred side and most managers will have a preferred side they want to use that player in as well.

It's why Minteh and Sarr have been sought out. It's also why Ibrahim Mbaye is probably a player to keep a close eye on with the Senegalese winger having already agreed personal terms with the Reds.

Who Liverpool go for will be a fascinating watch. With Lamine Camara also a target, it could be a very Senegalese themed transfer deadline day.

One player though who is heading to Liverpool for sure is Bradley Barcola. Liverpool have finally agreed a fee for his services after months of negotiations with Paris Saint Germain.

Barcola is a superstar, and one of the best young wingers on the planet right now.

He will got a long way in also adding to the aggregate in order to help replace Salah's impact.

More importantly, he is a player who suits Iraola's direct style of play - someone who can stretch defences and give this Liverpool team more verticality and another dimension on the pitch.

It's an exciting arrival, especially considering how young Barcola still is, and how many levels he still can go. Having won plenty of trophies in Paris he will be wanting to do the same at Anfield.

And it looks like he is here for the long-term as well.

Journalist Nicolo Schira is reporting that the French superstar has agreed a six-year deal with Liverpool until 2032.

That's a massive sign of just how much Liverpool appreciate Barcola, it's very rare that players sign such long-term deals with the club.
