Spain's Supreme Court has annulled Barcelona's October 2018 general assembly decision that amended article 73 of the club's statutes on season-ticket transfers.

According to Superdeporte, the ruling, made public on Monday, backs four members who had been sanctioned for serious infringement, with suspensions of four, 14 and 18 months. Three were punished on 24 July 2018, the fourth on 11 July.

None of the four could take part in the assembly because their membership rights were already suspended, and in earlier proceedings they were deemed not entitled to challenge the decision. The Supreme Court has now struck down the assembly agreement.

The annulled change to article 73 treated the transfer of a season ticket to a third party in return for any economic consideration as a for-value assignment. It also referenced article 81 regarding the for-value transfer of a membership card to attend a match at the club's stadium.

Under the revised rules, even a one-off for-value transfer of an access title to a club event was classed as a serious offence, except when carried out through or in favour of the club. Before the change, only resales above the official price were deemed for value, afterwards any consideration, above or below face value, applied.
