Swansea City are interested in Birmingham City's Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of the January transfer deadline.
Swansea City are interested in Birmingham City’s Kyogo Furuhashi, with the Midlands outfit said to be ‘willing to listen’ to offers for the striker before the February 2 deadline.
There was a lot of excitement at St. Andrew’s when Blues finalised a deal for the Rennes’ man in the summer, but he has endured a difficult start to life in the Championship.
Incredibly, Furuhashi’s first league goal in royal blue came against Sheffield Wednesday in the week, in what was his 25th Championship appearance of the campaign.

Given his struggles, there has been speculation surrounding the future of the Japanese international, with reports earlier this month claiming that Celtic were looking to bring Furuhashi back to Glasgow, although nothing has progressed.
However, that doesn’t mean Furuhashi will stay at Birmingham beyond the deadline, as Football Insider states that he has emerged as a target for Swansea.
They add that Blues would be open to offers for the player, who they are thought to have paid up to £10m for in the summer.
Chris Davies has already added another striker to his ranks this month, with Blues bringing in August Priske in what was seen as a real coup for the club, so he will expect to play a big role over the coming months, where he will battle with the likes of Marvin Ducksch, Jay Stansfield and Kyogo - should the Japanese star stay in the Midlands.
Furuhashi’s start to life in England hasn’t gone to plan. On the face of it, his goal record has been terrible, and Blues would’ve certainly expected more considering the money they paid to bring him in - plus the record he had at Celtic prior to his move to France with Stade Rennais.
But, it doesn’t tell the whole story. From hitting the post on his debut, to some downright bad finishing, it’s not as if Furuhashi hasn’t been getting chances, and there’s no doubt his confidence had been impacted by that poor run.

So, to sell him after he scored his first goal would be strange, as he does seem the sort of player that could go on a run now he has found the net.
But, Blues do have good options in attack after the arrival of Priske, so if Swansea make a decent offer, you can see why they would think about cashing in.
From the Swans’ perspective, Furuhashi’s movement and willingness to run in behind is different to their current options, and their style of play could get the best out of him.
Zan Vipotknik has been superb this season, but he needs support, with Adam Idah currently out through a hamstring injury, so you can see why they may be in the market for another number nine, and Furuhashi would certainly offer them something different.
