Swansea City ‘to target’ Conor Coady after massive centre-back blow | OneFootball

Swansea City have reportedly enquired about veteran Wrexham defender Conor Coady as they step up their search for defensive cover. According to Football League World, the England international has been identified as a possible solution.

The Swans were already looking to bolster the position despite signing Stephen Welsh from Celtic on a free earlier in the window.

Their need has grown after Cameron Burgess suffered a ruptured Achilles that is likely to rule him out for the season, while Ben Cabango limped off during the 0-0 draw with Sheffield United at the weekend.

Coady, 33, joined Wrexham from Leicester City in a £2m move last summer, made just six appearances, then spent the second half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic. Since returning to the Racecourse he appears out of favour under Phil Parkinson and was not involved in the opening two Championship games against Cardiff City and Watford.

It appears likely Wrexham will listen to offers and an exit now looks the probable outcome. He has indicated the situation is not personal, that he retains a good relationship with Parkinson, and that he cannot rule anything out.
