Swansea City boss Vitor Matos has admitted Cameron Burgess’ injury “doesn’t look good” after the defender was forced off during their Carabao Cup defeat to Birmingham City.

Burgess suffered the problem during Swansea’s 1-0 loss at St Andrews after an awkward landing.

The Swansea boss suggested the injury could be related to Burgess’ Achilles, although stressed the club will wait for further assessment before determining the severity.

“It doesn’t look good but I prefer to wait for the assessment we will do,” Matos said.

“It could be related to the Achilles but let’s see.”
