Yann Sommer endured a difficult night despite Inter Milan’s emphatic 6-2 victory over Pisa, with Italian media unanimously criticising the Swiss goalkeeper’s performance.
While Cristian Chivu defended his player after the final whistle, the press verdicts were harsh and left little room for mitigation, as per L’Interista.
La Gazzetta dello Sport delivered the most severe judgment, handing Sommer a rating of four.
The paper focused on the opening goal, describing it as “a terrifying inadvertent assist for Moreo,” adding that a simple pass would have avoided the danger.
The daily also questioned his positioning on the second goal and concluded bluntly that “the goalkeeper situation is a problem that needs resolving as soon as possible.”

Corriere dello Sport echoed those concerns with a 4.5 rating.
The Roman newspaper noted that Sommer had already looked uncertain against Arsenal and argued that this time he “literally gifted the ball for the opening goal.”
Responsibility was also assigned for the second concession, with the paper stating that he was “not free of blame,” before underlining that “the discussion is now open.”
Tuttosport offered no leniency either.
Awarding a four, the Turin-based daily wrote: “Inter, we now have a problem.”
The report added that “the mess for the 0-1 has no justification,” while maintaining doubts over the second goal, suggesting Sommer “could have done more.”
Other outlets followed a similar line. TMW and L’Interista both settled on 4.5, reinforcing the sense of a performance that overshadowed the scoreline.
