Sydie Peck has had his say after he was involved in both goals in Sheffield United's 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in midweek

Sheffield United bounced back from their first defeat of the new season on Tuesday night, coming from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park.

It's the second time in a fortnight the Blades have beaten Blackburn 2-1, after knocking them out of the EFL Cup last month. This time, it saw them climb up into 9th, while in turn extending Rovers' winless league run to four games.

There were numerous standout performances in Chris Wilder's side, which were much needed after what was a disappointing day at Bramall Lane on Saturday against Norwich City.

Sydie Peck put in a classy showing, setting up Tom Cannon for the equaliser and then netting what would be the winner just before half-time. After the game, he'd make sure some fans who were writing him off after the Norwich defeat ate their words.

Not many Sheffield United players came out of their defeat against Norwich at the weekend with their heads held high. Peck put in a rare poor performance in the engine room, but more than made up for it against Blackburn.

Following the loss against the Canaries, one Blades fan took to X to lambast Peck, stating that the 21-year-old "offers nothing. Badge kissing aside. He does nothing," when a fellow Blades fan questioned who would make their best side after the transfer window closed.

The fan was quickly proven wrong by the midfielder just days later, and he made sure to let him know by quote-tweeting him with "🗣️🗣️🗣️," as the caption, indicating that the noise online is just that.

Peck has been one of the Blades' most important players in the past couple of years after breaking into the side during their 92-point campaign in 2024/25, and seemed destined for bigger things this summer.

Indeed, West Ham United were linked with a move for Peck as they looked to replace Mateus Fernandes, while Premier League duo Brentford and Nottingham Forest were both linked, too.

In the end, Peck stayed, and the Blades fans online were glad to see him stand up for himself against what seemed like a minority opinion amongst the fanbase.

"My guy 👏 keep doing what you do and don’t listen to these clueless muppets. We know how good you are and how good you can be. Unreal last night for both goals. See you Sunday ⚔️," one fan said.

"Reyt player lad took goal reyt well that pass for cannon was top class," another commented, while a third added, "Quality performance tonight, Sydie. Real ones know what you're capable of."

Evidently, Peck has the full support of the Blades fanbase, even if one or two don't recognise his quality.

It's not been the most exciting of transfer windows at Sheffield United this summer, with the club navigating life without Premier League parachute payments.

The majority of the arrivals have either been on loan or free transfers; targets have been missed out on due to finances, and certain stars have left for money the club feels they couldn't turn down.

Some Blades fans felt it was an inevitability that the England under-21 international would follow the likes of Gustavo Hamer, Andre Brooks and Callum O'Hare out of the door, but he's ended up staying at Bramall Lane, which is a massive plus.

With the play-offs expanding to six teams this season, Sheffield United will still see themselves as a side with ambitions to challenge for promotion. Even with the squad being considerably weaker than it was last year, there are still plenty of quality players within it.

Peck's one of them, and you feel that if he can continue his vein of form from the last couple of years, he could be talked up as one of the best in his position in the Championship come the end of the season.
