Take Kubo has completed his first full training session since suffering injury on 18 January, giving Real Sociedad a timely lift.
According to Diario Vasco, in the first session of the week, five days before Levante’s visit to Anoeta, the Japanese forward trained with the group and now has a chance to feature on Saturday, even if only late on.
The downside is Jon Gorrotxategi, who continues to work apart due to muscle fatigue that has troubled him for three weeks. He has days to recover fully, although getting back to peak level is proving difficult.
Matarazzo has had two weeks to prepare, yet conditions are far from ideal. Monday’s workout again lacked the 10 first-team internationals and five injured players, namely Gorrotxategi, Zubeldia, Yangel Herrera, Odriozola and Rupérez, leaving another reduced session in the rain at Zubieta.
All current absentees are ruled out of the next league match, with the possible exception of Gorrotxategi.
Kubo’s return is a relief for Matarazzo, who, for the first time, can call on his full attacking options against Levante. It is understood Kubo could get minutes on Saturday and, if selected, start against Alavés on the 11th, keeping him available to start or come off the bench in the Copa final.
