Real Sociedad are monitoring Take Kubo’s progress as he approaches the final stage of his recovery, with the Copa del Rey final against Atlético de Madrid on 18 April in Sevilla in view.

According to AS, the Japan international has been sidelined since a January injury against Barcelona, and began individual work on the grass last week as his rehabilitation continues under Pellegrino Matarazzo.

Matarazzo, who made his debut in the Anoeta dugout against Atlético de Madrid, has been able to use Kubo only in three matches since taking charge.

There is still no confirmed return date, though the signs are positive. The coach recently said Kubo is progressing well and suggested he might be able to give a more precise timeline next week.

Kubo could return after the end-March international break and, in principle, he would be available for the Copa del Rey final.

In Kubo’s absence, 21-year-old winger Wesley Gassova has seen little playing time. The Brazilian, signed in the winter window on loan, has featured only for a few minutes at San Mamés and the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid. Given his age and loan status, his future remains difficult to predict.
