Konrad Laimer has long been more than just a supplementary player at FC Bayern. The Austrian is one of the most consistent and valuable players under Vincent Kompany – and is now set to be rewarded with a new contract. According to the BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“, talks about an extension are already underway.

Since his free transfer from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, Laimer has turned out to be a real bargain with rare value. The 28-year-old impresses with his versatility, strength in tackles and mentality – qualities that make him an integral part of Munich’s successful model under Kompany.

„You can use him everywhere, always hard-working,“ praised BILD reporter Christian Falk in the podcast. Whether on the six, the eight, as a right-back or recently even on the left flank – Laimer delivers reliably in every role.

As BILD insider Tobi Altschäffl revealed, Bayern have already taken the initiative: „There have been the first talks, no written offer yet, but that will come soon.“ In this way, those responsible apparently want to create planning security at an early stage and prevent contract talks from dragging on too long – as was the case with previous top performers.

Altschäffl even dares to make a prediction: „I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the deal will be signed before the end of the year.“

An extension would send out a clear signal: FC Bayern is committed to continuity, team spirit and reliability – virtues that Kompany has consistently promoted since taking up his post at Säbener Straße.

Laimer: „I’m open to anything“
