RB Leipzig are set to make waves on the international stage once more following the club’s debut overseas tour in the USA in 2024. This year, the Red Bulls will head to Brazil from 23rd to 30th May, with the seven-time Champions League participants the first Bundesliga club to visit the five-time World Cup winning nation in over 25 years. The tour will also see RBL play a friendly against Santos FC, who celebrated their 113th anniversary on Monday.

Johann Plenge, RB Leipzig CEO:

  1. "We were the face of the Bundesliga in the USA during our first-ever tour last summer. Our next adventure sees us head to South America, where we hope to again generate huge excitement. The country is one of the most significant markets for the DFL, as well as for our partners Red Bull and Puma. That’s why we see ourselves not just as ambassadors for Leipzig, but for the entire Bundesliga, and are happy to take on this responsibility once again. With the allocation of DFL broadcasting rights in Brazil coming up in 2026, the tour is therefore a high priority.”

On 28th May, Leipzig are set to take on Santos FC – eight-time Brazilian league champions and three-time winners of the Copa Libertadores – at the Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques, the 12,000-capacity home stadium of Red Bull Bragantino. Santos is a port city in the state of São Paulo and now once again home to one of the greatest and most well-known players in Brazilian footballing history in Neymar. Past legends such as Pelé, Pepe and Zito also donned the famous black and white stripes of Santos FC, with the club now back in the Brazilian top-flight after a first relegation in their history in 2023.

Pedro Martins, CEO of FC Santos:

  1. “It will be very important for Santos FC to play RB Leipzig in this friendly. We believe that this match is very much in line with the goals and objectives of our club's continued international promotion. We're testing ourselves against one of Europe's great teams, but we're also bringing together two great brands that are committed to developing top young talent and playing dynamic, attractive football. In addition to the match in Brazil, we look forward to activating all the opportunities that can arise from the association between the two clubs.”

Under the tour’s motto of Tamo Junto (“We’re together”), RB Leipzig will complete a training camp at one of the most modern football academies in South America, RB Bragantino’s Centro de Performance & Desenvolvimento on the outskirts of São Paulo. The academy in Atibaia, which was opened in 2024, offers perfect training conditions for the Red Bulls. The complex features six grass pitches and two artificial turf fields, a 2,730 square-metre Performance Space by APC, a team lounge, a spacious canteen, and a variety of recreational facilities.

Andre Rocha, Managing Director at Red Bull Bragantino:

  1. “We are looking forward to welcoming our brothers from RB Leipzig to our Performance and Development Center. It is very important for us and for the city of Bragança Paulista to exchange experiences with a top level European team. We hope that our facilities can help in the preparation of the team and we will show them a little of what our region has to offer.”

There will also be several events in and around São Paulo away from the football pitch, such as CSR initiatives, training sessions open to the public, collaborations with Red Bull and its other athletes, and a media day for Brazilian media outlets and travelling journalists, including Brazil’s ten Bundesliga rights-holders: TV stations, content partners, and digital platforms.

This will not be the first time that an RB Leipzig squad has set foot in Brazil – the U17 and U16 teams travelled there in 2014 and 2020 respectively to complete winter training camps at former club Red Bull Brasil. In February 2025, the current RB Leipzig U16s also took part in the Bull’s Cup hosted by Red Bull Bragantino.

RB Leipzig would like to thank Red Bull Bragantino, as well as partners Red Bull, Puma and Kraken for their support regarding this tour.
